Donations go toward an annual grant that supports the immediate needs of the Orono schools, including teachers’ salaries, classroom supplies and new curriculum.
Donations are used to increase the provision of a consistent, long-term funding stream that empowers more strategic planning for the future.
Donations support short- to mid-term needs in specific designated program areas, including academics, arts, athletics, buildings & grounds, leadership & ethics, teacher development, and technology.
Jake Anderson Legacy Fund
Jake Anderson, a 2013 Orono graduate who passed away in December 2013, was an outstanding leader and role model at Orono Schools. This fund was established by Jake’s family and is used to support leadership, character and service learning opportunities at Orono Schools.
Each year, the Orono Education Fund grants eleven college scholarships to Orono high school seniors and additional grants to support teacher and classroom projects. Teachers submit grant applications and the Orono schools provide scholarship-recipient recommendations.
